I was making popovers tonight for supper. The recipe calls for using popover pans. Well I wouldn't know what a popover pan looks like but I do know that my recipe makes 12 very nice popovers in my muffin tin/pan. I bought a 6 muffin tin about 25 years ago. Since then I bought another 6 muffin tin, and then 2-12 muffin tins, and I have a 24 mini-muffin pan. Here are some ideas using muffin tins. You probably have heard of some but maybe a few ideas ...<< MORE >>
If you keep your receipts you can track you bottom-dollar price and stock-up when you see on. At 42 cents a can I just bottom 6 cases of green beans, corn, green peas, and diced tomatoes. This may seem a lot to some families but it probably won’t last us more than a month give or take a couple of weeks. I may also give my grown children a case of vegetables when they need a little help.
I know the store where ...<< MORE >>
Okay, I admit this title was just to grab your attention! You can’t compare things that are not in some way similar. I would compare biscuits with doughnuts but I have made doughnuts from cheap canned biscuits. So in a word I could have 10 doughnuts for less than a dollar or two. Or I might compare doughnuts to coffeecake. You could have both for and with breakfast. Both can be a sugar treat. I made some cinnamon bread in the bread maker. A slice of this toasted ...<< MORE >>
Thanksgiving Leftovers are a fact of life in most North American households’ right about now. Yesterday I made delicious Potato-Corn chowder from leftover mashed potatoes, corn casserole and leftover ham. Tonight it will be Turkey pot-pie with some of the turkey, gravy and canned vegetables. I also have a nice pot of white beans cooked with the meaty hambone.
A casserole or soup made with leftovers changes the entire taste. No longer is it leftovers but something new to eat. I made homemade ...<< MORE >>

I've been thinking about the big bite that these products take out of the budget. I can spend $20 easy if not more but I have found ways to save money. It is really late at night while I write this post so I hope that you are able to glean something sensible.
1. Most of these things can be bought at the Dollar Tree and even many other stores have a dollar isle. The Dollar Tree now accepts coupons so ...<< MORE >>
I am always writing about putting leftovers in the freezer or double up on your cooking so the extra can go in the freezer so I think it’s only fair to give you an idea what I keep in my freezer. My sons, Caleb helped me clean out my freezer and organize it so I know exactly what's in my freezer. All I have is a side by side refrigerator/freezer but as you can see I am able to pack a lot in it.

My sweet step-sister Sandra thinks that family is the most important thing. Every year for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas she rents a building and invites all family, extended family and all the friends considered family. This is usually a week or two before the actual holiday. It costs her around 35 dollars to rent the building for the half day.
She has it organized well in advance and though it may be a little different each year the basic plan is the same. Each family will bring a ...<< MORE >>
In an earlier post I spoke about bread machines. I hate to admit when I'm wrong but I think in this case I may be. I had stated that I probably wouldn't have one unless I could get a really good price on one. Well I bought one at a yard sale a few weeks ago and I have to say that I really like it. I didn't try it out until last week however and I wanted to use it for a while before I gave my ...<< MORE >>
